Energy Tip

Top Ten Tips for Heating Your Home, from Bion Howard’s web site http://www.energybuilder.com/

“Tip #2 - Install (a) set-back digital (programmable) thermostat on your heating system or heat pump. Every degree of set “back” for heating may save up to 8% on central heating energy usage.” (Bion’s #1 Tip - “Obtain an energy audit…”)

What We Do: Home Energy Inspections©

We offer two levels of home inspection -
the regular Home Energy Inspection© and
the Home Energy PLUS Inspection©.

What is a Home Energy Inspection©?

A Home Energy Inspection© has two parts -
1) a comprehensive visual inspection of your home to assess its energy efficiency and health issues, and
2) a Home Energy Report© with prioritized recommendations on the steps you can take to save energy and create a healthier, more comfortable residence.
Our whole-house approach examines the full range of factors affecting energy use and indoor air quality.

Information from the field inspection is then analyzed to determine the best home energy improvement options for the property. We collect the results of the inspection and analysis in your Home Energy Report, which combines the field data and images with our observations and recommendations.

Our recommendations are customized to the specific conditions in your home, while including general energy efficiency tips and information on ways you can start reducing your energy use, your costs and your impact on global warming.

With our integrated approach and extensive knowledge of green building practices, the prioritized solutions offered in the Report allow the homeowner to maximize the benefits of their energy improvement investments.

We provide access to information on the pre-qualified contractors in our Sustainable Contractors Network who can perform the services recommended in the Report. If you perform your green home improvements with these pre-qualified contractors, TerraLogos Green Home Services will support you with our Quality Assurance Program. In addition, specific energy saving products are recommended which fit your needs.

What is a Home Energy PLUS Inspection©?

The Home Energy PLUS Inspection© allows for a more detailed and specific analysis of the individual home through the use of advanced building diagnostic equipment.

Our PLUS service includes everything in the regular Home Energy Inspection© plus
• a Blower Door Infiltration Test and
• an Infrared Camera Inspection.
The PLUS Inspection provides more detailed information with which to make the right decisions.

Used together, the Blower Door and Infrared Camera effectively identify the most critical issues and direct us to the best, most cost effective opportunities for improvement.
